Aug. 7th, 2006 02:58 pmI found this in a long document full of little blurbs I'd written for
writemore last year and, honestly? I was kind of blown away by myself and wanted to share. Some parts are a little rough but I really like it on the whole.
Summer was fading like your favorite jeans, wearing out with too many washings, wearing out, yeah, but you never ever wanted to give it up, nights with bonfires and days spent gossiping at the pool. It was the blue of a sky in early August, it was the white creases where you’d spent too much time sitting on your porch, it was everything and it was all intertwined, somehow. You don’t know, you don’t really care, all you know is what you have is good, and someone is going to try to take it away from you with honey, those jeans are a little raggedy, aren’t they and it’s almost time for school, we can go shopping and buy another pair. Summer was fading into heavy navy blue, creases from folding and not from living, into the heavy navy blue of an October sky.
