Related rule: avoid using oven-safe pots and pans in the oven, because when you're done with them in the oven, you'll rest them on the stovetop, and moments later, your brain will see them and say "oh, it's a frying pan!" and you'll grab the handle with your bare hand and it'll hurt. A lot.
OW. Did you get it in cold water realrealfast? *whimpers in sympathy*
There's another related rule, which is this: If you have small children and you do this, you will absolutely do it while positioned such that you have no choice but to continue holding the object in your bare hand for a moment because else you will drop it on your toddler. And you will have to not shriek Bad Words that said toddler will learn.
I did but that did not stop it from hurting a lottt :((( However it is healing up ok. I have a shiny stripe over my first two fingers and down onto my palm, and a little blister on my thumb, but it doesn't hurt to type anymore which makes me feel a lot better about things. My priorities, haha.
for real, much woe! but as I said in an earlier comment to someone else, I can now type and not have to make a choice between slow one handed and pain, and that makes me feel a lot better about everything, hahah.
I have SO done that before! It's like your brain can't juggle having one hand protected and one hand not, and which one can touch hot things and which one, evidently, cannot... I'm sorry! Burns are awful! Here's a little thing I learned from all those cooking jobs about burns: you know how, when your burn comes near a heat source, it starts to hurt again? If you smear some raw tomato on your burn, that will stop that part, at least. It won't really help the burn itself, though the citric acid is actually good for it, believe it or not, but it will make it not hurt in the heat. I hope that helps, and I'm sorry! :(
I know! It was because, I was making toasted cheese sandwhiches, and the potholder was going to drag in the melty cheese, and of course we couldn't have that now could we, so I just completely mindlessly switched it.
luckily it doesn't hurt anymore, and I don't think it's even going to scar. My hand has that weird tight sort of feeling that I surmise is the skin repairing and growing back, but other than that, good as new. Well actually I don't know if it's going to scar or not, I've never really seriously burned myself before. I have a thin shiny strip over especially my index finger, but a bit on my second finger and palm too--it has that look of the first layer of skin, with the fingerprints, being burnt off and I don't know if that grows back. I think it will, I don't feel like it's going to scar, but I guess it could go either way.
Wouldn't that be the story of my life--toasted cheese sandwiches --> burn scars.
Lol. Actually, I don't know if those grooves do come back. I've heard of them being burnt off before... like, not a huge deal, but it could happen! Be kind of cool, actually. :D
My brother and I watched V for Vendetta tonight and I'm feeling all fearless and revolutionary now. :D
