Prom things. :)

I'm going to Prom this year. I didn't go last year, mostly because the only boy who asked me was, well, the person who I dislike the MOST in my entire school How ironic. ANYWAY, I'm way excited. I don't do it often, but I love getting all dressed up and looking pretty when I have the chance. I have a whole schedule mapped out (in about three different places, lol) and just. glee. I've just made an appointment for hair and makeup at 1PM the day of, which is maybe a little early for makeup, but I wanted to have time to go for dinner and take loads of pictures and do whatever other prommy things one does. Also I am debating having my nails done as well (I am also debating wearing gloves, hahah) and I want to make sure I have time for that.
And I'm going to buy my dress this weekend! OMG! :DD
PS: Opinions on tanning? Tanning salon v. rub on? or fake tan but from a salon? How often, how long to go? How far before prom? I am really pale right now, but I tan nicely and easily, so I don't think too long will be necessary, but I don't really have any idea. I know that tanning is not a necessity, but. Ugh. I am so pale right now! I remember during the summer I'd look at my tan lines and think "Man, I can't even imagine being that shade of white all over!" and now...I don't have any tan lines.

Date: 2007-03-15 11:20 pm (UTC)I'd be wary of a fake tan. So many things can go wrong, and you may end up an unflattering shade of...something. o.o
A pale complexion can be quite lovely when offset by the right dress. I'm pretty pale too, but have found dark dresses do the trick. :)
Good luck!

Date: 2007-03-15 11:23 pm (UTC)And I know pale can be nice, but I just...I look better with a little tan. Not super tan, just not night of the living dead, y'know? And I feel better, more confident, and that can only be a good thing, right?

Date: 2007-03-16 12:15 am (UTC)re tanning: I always get weird about that, if only because I always hear horror stories about it. Also, isn't tanning bad for you? :/ I remember hearing that. But if it's only a few times, maybe it's not a big deal? Idk.

Date: 2007-03-16 02:08 am (UTC)mostly because the guy that asked me was kind of creepy, and had also asked two other girls before me. he even left a note in my backpack during rehearsal (with my first name spelled wrong!) to ask again, after i had said no...twice.
so i feel you there.
i needed a way out of that without feeling terribly guity, so i said i had plans with the no-prom prom :D
....aaaand long comment.
(basically proof that i still read....and exist)

Date: 2007-03-16 02:26 am (UTC)Eww, no tanning salons, Penni! Do you want to look like the girl next door? I'm just kidding. I have no experience with tanning salons or tanning lotion. Although, I have a huge fear of skin cancer, so I'm going to advise you to use the tanning lotion stuff. But I'm pretty sure you're not looking for the healthiest way, just whatever works best. LOL, wow.
When is your prom?

Date: 2007-03-16 03:32 am (UTC)I still vote no on the tanning, but if you do go for it, then I vote tanning bed. Which means you have to start with a little bit at a time and build up to it, so it can get pricey! But the rub-on tans are SO easy to, well, rub on unevenly. And don't even think about trying to correct it; you'll just be streaky and orange. And yes to whoever said that about how many of the lotions make you orange even if you do it right! I think you're beautiful as is, but that's just my opinion. :)

Date: 2007-03-16 02:53 pm (UTC)Ahaha so I SHOULD be saying no tan at all, but I know what you mean about being pale. (After the fall, all I need to do is not get enough sleep and people will ask me if I'm okay because I look 'peaky' x_X) So, THEN, I should tell you to go tan-in-a-bottle, because 1) cheaper, and 2) no UV rays! BUT I think a trusted tanning salon would be the safest bet, actually.
If not tanning salon, I think there are rub-on things that make you tan more easily. Like, minimal tint with something that just makes your skin turn color more easily if you spend a couple hours outside. I know that it's still kind of chilly where you are, though. =/ Here it was like 70 degrees F the past two days, and it's snowing right now haha.
