Dec. 31st, 2006 06:26 pmThat got your attention, huh? ;)
Final Frankenmix of the year! Again posted on the very last day of the month, ahahah. This one is kind of unusual--a concept album, I guess, illustrating a romantic comedy. I'm really interested in what you think of my choices and would highly encourage you to try it as well. I had a lot of fun with this!
All songs plus, uh, an extra, can be found here. Alternatively, single files available on demand.
1. Opening Credits: Ben Lee - Hard Drive
These are the feet i'm standing on
These are the hands that build a world
This is the bed i'm sleeping in
This is the shirt i'm buttoning
This is the pace i'm moving at
This is the tune i'm humming now
This is the road i'm walkin down
These are the lips that form my words
With the cliche opening of both of our heroes getting dressed and starting their days, cutting back and forth from boy to girl.
2. Introduction of the Kickass, Yet Lonely Heroine: Anouk - Searching (acoustic)
I am looking for answers to questions never posed
I haven't got a clue, I'm living like a ghost
Can't seem to read the signs
I'm swimming in the sand, I'm searching
I hold on to my reasons, I'll hold on to my dreams
She is a career woman, nice sleek and pricey apartment in NYC. She's very pretty and well dressed and has no lack of offers for male company, which she does take up on occasion, but no one manages to stick around past the second date, and she tells herself she likes it that way. She's jaded as hell, and if a guy starts getting too close, she cuts him out.
3. Introduction of the Sensitive, Yet Manly Hero: Audioslave - I Am Not
Friends and liars
Don't wait for me
Cause I'll get on
All by myself
Put millions of miles
Under my heels
And still too close to you
I feel
I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind
I am the sky here
I am not your autumn moon
I am the night
The night
Hold the sensitive, double the manly. Think Brian Kinney with dirt under his nails. Snarky and sexy and looking out for himself first (and, some say, only). Both of our heroes had a relationship or three end very badly and very painfully and are now operating on a get off and get out level.
4. Our Heroes Meet: The Cat Empire - Hello
Walking down the street
With some evil in my eye
And some thoughts in my head
That were making me feel high
On my head was a hoodie
In my ears was some bass
Was walking by my dog
When I saw that sexy face
Come towards me
With a little cheeky smile
Boy and girl see each other and approve. Insert smooth and snappy banter here. They make plans to meet at a club later that night.
5. Our Heroes Go On a Wacky First Date: Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection
They're dancing and enjoying each other's company, but there's something...different in the air. They end up back at her apartment, and have an explosively good time. He leaves shortly afterwards and they don't see each other for awhile...but can't get each other out of their heads, either.
6. Our Heroes Deconstruct Each Other With Their Respective Best Friends: Rufus Wainwright - Instant Pleasure
I don't want somebody to love me
Just give me sex whenever I want it
'Cause all I ask for is instant pleasure
Instant pleasure, instant pleasure
Both of their friends try to figure out who is on our heroes' minds, but both boy and girl swear it's all physical.
7. Our Heroes Have a Significantly Better Second Date: Boys Like Girls - Hero/Heroine
It's too late baby, there's no turning around
I've got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud
This is how I do
When I think about you
I never thought that you could break me apart
I keep a sinister smile and a hold of my heart
You want to get inside
Then you need to get in line
But not this time
They run into each other again, and go for coffee or a stroll in the park. There is nothing sexual at all in the date and it freaks them out a whole lot. They're both starting to realize that there is something more to their feelings and it's kind of scaring them, minus the kind of.
8. The Significant Moment in Which Our Heroes Fall in Love: Better Than Ezra - Breathless
Here you are now
Fresh from your war
Back from the edge of time
And all that you were,
Stripped to the bone
I thought you'd want to know
That when you feel the world is crashing
All around your feet
Come running headlong into my arms
Breathless
I'll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running headlong
Into my arms
Breathless
Career Girl with her heels and expensive purse is coming home when...oh no! Some persons with nefarious intentions corner her. She's got her pepper spray in her hand, but one of the thugs knocks it aside. She is in a bad bad situation. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN! Tough Boy comes out of nowhere and kindly encourages the baddies to depart. OK, maybe not so kindly, but the job is done and they leave. Que a tender moment with boy gathering girl into his (very nice and muscle-y. hey. it's my movie.) arms, verifying that she's ok, brushing her hair out of her eyes. He looks meaningfully into her eyes, and the chorus of the song swells.
9. Our Heroes Make Love for the First Time: Bic Runga - Sway
Don't stray
Don't ever go away
I should be much too smart for this
You know it gets the better
Of me sometimes
When you and I collide
I fall into an ocean of you
Boy walks girl home as she's still (understandably) rattled, she invites him up out of gratitude. They have some wine, maybe make some pasta together and eat it. It gets late, he, for the first time since puberty basically, says he should go instead of trying to convince the beautiful woman sitting next to him to let him stay. She protests. He concedes. They put on a movie, something light that he complains about in a teasing way a little. They end up curled together on her couch. She happens to look up at the same time he looks down. They kiss gently and from there, it's all lost. They have quiet gentle slow sex and fall asleep together. In the morning he wakes earlier and freaks out. He runs.
10. The Tragic Misunderstanding and Breakup: Aluco There Is Nothing
The slow running song behind the window
That quietly used the breaks in your light
Distorted sounds as the morning kills the night
Some smiling pictures of the street
She wakes up smiling, then she realizes she's alone. She cries into her pillow then gets up, carefully applies her makeup, and goes to work where no one notices anything is wrong. This song plays over all of it.
11. The Montage of Attempting to Move On and Failing Horribly: Saving Jane - Happy
I'm so happy for you
I could cry
Yeah, I'm so elated
Cross my heart and hope to die
I don't think about you every night
Before I close my eyes
I'm so happy for you baby,
I could cry.
They see each other at a club again, a few weeks later. They're both with other people. They both try to smile at each other and tell themselves it's better this way
12. The Montage of Missing Each Other: Anthony Rapp - Always
I'm up here on my own again,
I'm always on my own
They don't know anything at all,
they see just what they want
Can't they see I'm not really here?
I'm back there with you.
That song fades into this one as they go one with their lives--working hard, one night stands here and there but there is always something missing. They, um, keep trying to forget that they're addicted to each other.
13. The Chance Meeting: Panic! At The Disco - There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey (You Just Haven't Figured It Out Yet)
I'm the new cancer,
Never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips, "When did he get all confident?"
Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer,
Never looked better and you can't stand it.
Girl's friends drag her to this new club where there's a band playing that is supposed to be crazy good. And also the frontman is crazy hot. She doesn't really want to go, but does. SURPRISE! The crazy hot frontman is REALLY her boy! They see each other and make meaningful eye contact across the room, but she is way intimidated by all the groupies and his clear success.
14. The Reconciliation: Sufjan Stevens - The One I Love (REM cover)
The band is already playing when she gets there. She sees him and can't handle it. She starts to leave. He sees her walking to the door and stops the band mid-song. She turns around and looks. He starts talking, explaining how there is a song he's never wanted to play before but he can't go any longer with these feelings so deep inside, etc etc. He starts (just him, not the whole band) to play and sing.
15. Closing Credits: Santana ft Chad Kroeger - Why Don't You And I
So I'll say why don't you and I get together and take on the world
and be together forever
Heads we will and tails we'll try again
Again, all songs are in a zip file here. Let me know what you think!

Date: 2007-01-01 06:36 am (UTC)Ahahahah I love the cheese for Breathless. I actually call it My Smitten Song. XDD
OHHHH and 14 just makes me go ♥. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I picture Brian singing at the countertop of a bar with the gang for his band and Justin walking in on them, and then Brian crooning his heart out in a pretty solo. And everyone's like, "o_O WTF ARE YOU ON? But it's sweet..."
Ahaha. Anyway. I liked this Frankenmix! :D
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
