Don't forget about how even if your heart is broken, the world still continues to function... "Without you the grass grows, the ear hears, the hand gropes (etc., etc. (I know they're from different verses & in the wrong order)), but I'd die without you." That gets me every time, especially at the end in Finale B when they're all singing lyrics from different songs from earlier in the musical/movie.

I totally agree with everything else you've said about Rent... and there is absolutely no way it could be bad. Just. No. Way. ♥♥

I've been toying around with making icons, and I wanted to make a Rent one for me. When I make it, I'll share!

Ahh, yes. That song. Gah, so much love. Finale B is WONDERFUL. I also like the triplets of Seasons of Love in the I'll Cover You Reprise. God, there isn't a song on those disks that I don't like. So damn much love.

I went a little icon-making crazy. Ha. It's just so easy and fun to do! I don't know how to make those super-fancy changing-image ones, but I can crop pics and add text, which is enough for me!

I ended up making, um, like 8 icons... I don't know why, but I find that embarassing for some reason! It only took me like 30 minutes to make them all, though! Some of them did turn out better than others. You can take any of them that you want, just save them from my user info page.

And not just you, I guess... since apparently there aren't many Rent icons around, anyone who wants one can have one!

Yeah, I just got it... I was tired of only having 3 stinkin' icons, and it's only $5.00 for 2 months... I thought I'd give it a try and see if I like it more than the free account. But of course, as my luck would have it, LJ announced today that free account holders can have 6 icons! Right after I got a paid account... Curse you, Murphy's Law!

First and foremost, Rent is a Broadway musical, and a splendid one. GORGEOUS music, and a just as gorgeous plot about a group of friends in their early to mid twenties living in near destitution in NYC.

It was recentlymade into a FABULOUS movie that was released in mid november and you should totally go see, because hi, fabulous.

When I get on the other computer, I can upload a few highlights for you if you'd like. SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY GOOD OK.

Oh, yes, I meant to ask- who is your favorite character? I think my favorite character is Mark, but I really like Collins (a lot) and I love Angel, too!

Oh, mannnn. Huh. Mark is wonderful. I love his patience with everything and his nerdiness, and ANGEL I just--she's so full of love, I can't help but love her. Collins, in turn, loves her so much that I can't help but love him too, but. I've always had a massive weak spot for the emo boys, so I think for me it'd have to be Roger. Yes.

I am in total agreement, but would also expand on the family/friend idea to include the creation of a totally new family ("friendship is thicker than blood"- even if it does depend on a few other things as well), formed by choice. They are family, and it's totally worth it even if it's totally dysfunctional. Very QaF, if you think about it. But yes.

There is definitely no way. (I have no idea how to do the hearts, try as I might. But they're here in spirit.)

I haven't seen the movie yet. I am so lame! I really, really want to, though, 'cause I love the musical. And your list makes it sound even more spectacularly awesome than I already thought it was!

Oh oh oh! Go see it! In comparison with the show, I had a few small complaints, but still, fabulously awesome. Like WHOA. YES.

Are you done with your omg-no-lj-must-study period? Exams done, or whatever you were working on? How'd it go? Or are you just taking a break? :P

I will! I've heard it's great, and, yeah, other people I've spoken with have had a few qualms in comparison with the show, but generally there's always a few things like that with adaptations. So the fact that I've heard good things so far is really promising!

I am done, baybee! Well, I still have some stuff going on, but in comparison with the last month or so, it's a lot less stressful. I think (I hope!) exams went okay. I'll know in a few days.
What about you? When do you have holiday break? :D

Yeah. Whenever you're going from a canon source (a book, a show, a remake of a movie) there will always be qualms and differences. If you take it as it's own entity, though, just really really good. It makes me all flaily and happy to think about. :D

Yay! I'm so happy for you! Here's hoping your exams did go well. I don't have break until like, the 21st. Eww. But, we're on a trimester schedule. We don't have exams or anything strenuous, so. Also, my schedule is totally easy right now. The five classes I'm taking? French, history (and I enjoy and am good at both of those) band, gym, and a study period. The study period is supposed to be for my english class, except my english class is at another school and they're on a different schedule. And it doesn't start till mid January. Yup. *wins*

I've got almost nothing going on outside or school, too, which is a new and novel experience for me. I kinda like it. :P

I dig it. :D See, that's what I think you have to do because, uh, the movie ain't gonna be exactly like the show/the book/whatever, and the people who think it is are just disappointing themselves. As long as it's a faithful adaptation, and stands solidly on its own as well, what more can you hope for?

Exactly. People get all bent out of shape about "Oh, character x said that line in the book, and character y said it in the movie omg!1!!!!1" It seems to me as long as they keep most of the same plot points, and, the MOOD of the original, little things can and will change, and that's ok.

Eeee, I know! I'm looking forward to some time off! Trimesters are like semesters, except there are three instead of two. The first one goes from september to thanksgiving-ish, the second one from thanksgiving to early march, I believe, the third one from march till we get out in June.

Schedules do change, although for some for than others. A general rule of thumb is that easy classes are one tri (entry level science, classes like drama, gym, etc. Except you have to take gym twice for graduation requirements. Bah.), regular classes are two, and hard ones (or ones like band that don't stop) are three. So, my schedule changes less than others because most of my classes are two or three tris. Next tri I have all of the same classes except without a study period and with math. Yeah, that'll be fun. Or not. Eww. I'm trying not to think about that. :\
