I was really surprised there weren't more posts about this during the last days... Netherlands, Iceland, Spain, now Britain. Seems we're making some progress in good old Europe ;-)
I was surprised, too! I only saw one post, and that was from a person (jackola) that I mostly have friended for political news. I was kind of o.0 that no one else on the flist had said anything. Hmmm.
Oh that's wonderful! Yet one more reason why England is a cooler place than America! Hopefully, as you said, the US will see that gay marriage is a good idea! A gay couple I'm friends with decided to pick up and move to Massachusetts so they could get married/partnered. Gay people shouldn't have to uproot their lives just so that they can have the same right as any other heterosexual person! So not fair. As for whether England's fairness will rub off on America... Who knows. I hope so!
The way I see it, we'll eventually triump, because--we're so plainly in the right. I have trouble saying that, because I don't like having an us/them perspective, a "I'm right and you're wrong", but, in this issue, we ARE. Science is on our side, liberty is on our side, geez, even love is on our side. And if we keep fighting long enough, we're going to come out on top. We just--we are. It's like slavery. Someday, we will win. We will. It's just going to take some time.
