Laurie halseanderson is amazing!

OMGOMGOMG. She's so nice, and so cool, and so smart and funny and ahhhh I love her to bits. Ahhhhhh. I want her to come live by me so I can fangirl her. I was a little scared because, OMG, Laurie Halse Anderson but. She was so so awesome! I told her I liked Prom, her new book, and she gave me a big hug. And she asked about me--what I liked to do (We spent like ten min geeking about marching band! *g*), where I was going to school, had I thought about doing ____ after school, etc. And Max and Antoine (brothers-ish) are both VERY talented artists, and my dad showed her a sculpture Antoine had made, and she really looked at it, and then both Max and Antoine were flooding her with art and it was such a "please like me" kind of thing that I had a hard time keeping the Awwwww! inside. And Antoine especially is usually kind of quiet around people he doesn't know well, particularly adults, but I think he quite liked her. Because she's SO easy to like! She acts like she really genuinely cares about you. And she was writerxhardcore--she carried around a notebook and jotted down ideas even during dinner! And dinner was amazing, btw. My dad is like cooking!god. We had home- and hand-made chocolate mousse (with home-made whipped cream! And fresh strawberries!) and from-scratch sweet potato & mango soup, and Greek Salad on little mini freshly made toast-y things, and, though I didn't eat it, my dad had made this salmon that looked ABSOLUTELY divine. I went veg nearly four years ago, and I still remember how good it tastes, which should tell you something.

And then last night, we went to hear her speak at a nearby library (KPL, for around-here people. And y'all should have been there! She's brilliant, etc.). I love hearing authors speak, because they're so. damn. good. at putting words together. Her speech was funny and smart and gave me chills and I just wanted to put her in a little box and carry her around with me. Ohh. So so cool! ♥
