My English class this semester is focused on outlaws and heroes and the interactions and fuzzy lines between them. We've so far done units on Robin Hood and James Bond, to give you an idea. My topic for my final paper is Harry Potter as a social outsider, and how the same behaviors that make him an outsider (breaking the rules, being disliked by the authorities and/or his peers, being a wanted criminal by book 7, etc.)are not only permissible but necessary for him to accomplish his ultimate goal of saving the world. My teacher said it was totally acceptable for me to cite LJ meta posts, or even fanfiction that demonstrated that point or fans' reactions to it. Anyone have any thoughts on where I should start? Self-pimping a-ok!

Feel free to (read: please!) pimp this to your friends; all ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you!

oh god, I just checked my flist. I can't even--I don't even know what to say. I've been friends with Anj since 2005, maybe earlier. She truly was one of the nicest, most talented, genuinely kindest people in fandom. I can't even believe that she's gone. I don't know how to say this without sounding trite or cliched but I truly believe a little part of the light in our world went with her.

All my love, Anj, wherever you are. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.
