# A song that could have written about/for you. Sister Hazel - Your Winter or Jason Mraz - Who Needs Shelter

(I won't be your winter/I won't be anyone's excuse to cry) or (Who needs shelter when the morning's coming?/Absolutely, there's no one/who needs shelter from the sun?/Not me, no. not anyone.)

A winter song and a summer song. I like happy and sunshine, and these songs sum up the way I feel nicely.

# A song for that bad day to end all bad days. The Bens - Bruised

(The world won't turn until something breaks/who will make the first last mistake/If good things come to those who wait/Well, I can't wait)

Oh, The Bens. :(((

# A song about the end of the world. David Berkeley - Jefferson or Colieda - Hiroshima

(in pennsylvania there's a bridge that broke/the water washed it on by/why is it you and i buckled under the tide/jefferson we should've listened/should have answered the call/what did you want from me/now the west will fall) or (instrumental)

David Berkeley is amazing and I can't figure out why he isn't better known. I don't particularly like the first fifteen seconds of this song, but the rest of it is amazing. Colieda is a local band that is really, really good. Like, really good. They're mostly instrumental. Guitar, bass, drums, and viola makes for their unique, dreamy sound.

# A song about the devil. Bell X1 - Eve, The Apple Of My Eye

(In the garden Snake was a charmin'/And Eve said let's give it a try/Now lead us not into temptation)

I am in love with this song. I listen to it over and over. It's amazing. The end.

# A song that reminds you of your favorite pair of jeans. The Lucksmiths - Guess How Much I Love You

(You know I’m thinking of you/In the bookstore, in the laundromat/Guess how much I love you/Much more, more than that)

This song is happy and comfortable and really, really cute. Just like my favorite pair of jeans! :) But, there's sadness too, like there can be with jeans when they wear out or don't fit right anymore. *sigh*

# A song for lying to your mother. Cranes - Astronauts or Damien Rice - All Dressed Up

(instrumental) or (Prepare myself for a war/And I don't know what i'm doing this for/Trying to let it all go/But how can I when you still don't know?)

The Cranes song is exactly the scene that's played at the depressing scene in the movie when the lighting is grey and the main character is sneaking out of the house and has circles under her eyes. The Damien Rice is angsty and overwrought, but not over done and always totally believable.

# A drunk song. The Libertines - I Get Along

(I get along just singing my song/People tell me I'm wrong.../Fuck 'em!)

Well, The Libertines always sound drunk, pretty much, and they're fun to sing to and jump around the house to and are generally kickass and this song is one of my favorites.

# A song for truth. The Weakerthans - Pamphleteer

(How I don't know what I should do with my hands when I talk to you./How you don't know where you should look, so you look at my hands.)

I don't know a song that is more true than those two lines up there.

# A song you could have written about somebody else. Better Than Ezra - Breathless or Dar Williams - Better Things

(When you feel the world come/crashing down around your feet/come running headlong into my arms/breathless/I could never judge you/I can only love you/come now/running headlong into my arms) or (Here's hoping all the days ahead/Won't be as bitter as the ones behind you/Be an optimist instead/And somehow happiness will find you./Forget what happened yesterday,/I know that better things are on their way.)

There isn't really anything I could say here that would make me sound like less of a sap. Oh, wait. The Dar is live, and with someone else, but I can't remember who. There.

# A song to listen to while watching a fire burn. Dream Theatre - Lost Without You or Dashboard Confessional - The Only Gift That I Need

(instrumental) or (I want you here by my side/cold nights and fires and white wine)

The Dream Theatre is amazing and perfect for fire watching. It's also live but very, very good quality, as in, I didn't realize it was live until I'd been listening to it for three months. The Dashboard is sappy and adorable and makes me ♥ when I hear it.

# A song about an angel. Train - When I Look To The Sky

('Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you're here with me/And you make everything all right./And when I feel like I'm lost something tells me you're here with me/And I can always find my way when you are here)

# A modern-day lullaby. Vienna Teng - Lullaby For A Stormy Night

(the same rain that draws you near me/falls on rivers and land/on forests and sand/makes the beautiful world that you'll see/in the morning)

Vienna Teng is one of the best singers around and is, I think, incapable of putting out a bad song. This one is no exception. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] nadia_skye.

Really like the Lucksmiths song & the Libs are great when you're drunk.

Had I seen you upload End of Fashion at some point? Doesn't the singer sound like Jeff Buckley sometimes?

-hugs-
