First? I. LOVED. IT.

Second, I haven't read any of your reviews--or any professional reviews, for that matter--yet, so forgive me if I just repeat the same things 1000 people have already said. I didn't want to be influenced by what other people thought.

OK, on with the show.

I was impressed with the editing. Sure, there were some things that made me think, "Shoot, I would have really loved to see _______ on the big screen" but nothing that made me think, "WTF, they're leaving _______ out? That's only the most vital thing to understanding the whole movie." In the first category: I really wanted to see more of the Quidditch World Cup, both the game itself and the DE attack. I'm a little undecided if I liked the Harry-passes-out-and-mysteriously-awakens-just-in-time plot line, but, it worked. It got the job done, and when you're dealing with, what, 750 pages? That has to be a priority on at least some level. I wasn't overly pleased that they took out the whole plot line of HOW Crouch escaped from Azkaban (I was looking forward to seeing Winky!) but, again, I understood why they did it. Same with Rita Skeeter being an animagus. It was cool and added a lot to her character, but didn't really advance the ultimate plot.

Rita Skeeter, by the way, was fabulous. Probably my favorite new actor in the movie. I LOVED her--well, loved to hate her, I guess. Hahahha. She was great. Oh, of course The Sexpot was good as well--and not just good looking! Which kind of surprised me, to be honest. I really genuinely liked him, and. God. That last scene with Harry crying over his body? Tore me up. Mad-Eye Moody wasn't how I imagined him, but I did like him quite a lot. The scene with the spiders CREEPED ME THE FUCK OUT, OK. I'm with Ron on the whole spiders issue. I understand that they have a great vital importance to the ecosystem...just, don't do it by me. I wasn't picturing Madame Maxine as being so skinny, but, it worked. Oh, and MYRTLE! Ahahahha, what a riot! Hysterical, man. I really liked Cho, just in general. Very well done, very cute but not omg drop dead gorgeous, and she seemed very nice. Fleur I would have liked to have been prettier, but, what can you do?

It's interesting in movies like this, when almost all of the cast is retained over a series of years, to see how they grow and develop as actors. Emma in particular stood out to me as doing a fabulous job. Dan, too, was absolutely adorable in an awkward-little-woobie kind of way. Although, I don't know how much of that was Harry and how much was Dan, because that's how Dan seems to me in the interviews and such that he gives. The scene with Hermione telling Harry about Victor being physical, hahah, the little smirk on Harry's face killed me. Matthew Lewis has improved a lot, I think, and the Phelps twins were great. I also liked whoever played the Patil twins. My canon purists was a little irked that they both seemed to be in the same house, and that they were twins at all, but, oh well. Not a huge deal. Hahah, I felt so bad for Padma when she saw Ron in his dress robes. Actually, I felt bad for Ron, especially standing next to Harry, who looked very dapper indeed. Actually, he was looking good for most of the movie. Rawr. Hahah. Oh, Tom was looking good too! I loved the scene when Harry yelled "I don't give a damn about your father!" The energy and passion!

The filming was just gorgeous in this movie. I loved the visual of Nagini coming out of the skulls in the beginning. Oooh, and the first task was just breathtaking. I've always had a bit of a dragon weakness, and. Yeah. Really good. Voldemort wasn't exactly how I pictured him, but pretty close. I have no complaints about that entire scene. Very well done.

The whole movie was very well done. I think this is the first movie that is an outstandingly good movie on it's own right, not just because it's a Harry Potter movie. I was really, really impressed.

Oh, wait, one last thing! The staff banging (*snerk*) the Durmstrang men did as they entered? SHOOT. That was wickedcool. The Beauxbaton (Bo-battin', *headdesk*) curtsy thing wasn't nearly as impressive.

fin!

I still can't talk. Ok, this is ridiculous. It started going Tuesday night. It's Saturday morning.

"We are women and we are weak"?

Yeah. But amusing. Because every boy in Hogwarts:

:O :O :O

That really annoyed me, too. She was always the first to drop. Oy. So annoying.

I agree with you both, but I think Fleur's weakness in all the tasks and the entrances of both the Beauxbaton and Durmstrang contingents were just examples of a recurrent heteronormativity going on throughout the film.

In the book, it was never specified that either Beauxbaton or Durmstrang were single-gender institutions, but note that choice in the movie. Really, given the way they chose to depict each school's students, they could hardly do anything but make them gender segregated lest they "risk" depicting gender non-normative behavior on screen, right?

Yeah. It was questionable, I definitely agree. Plus Hermione was shown as weak repeatedly... I thought she was a bit ooc.

Hum.

JUST came back from seeing it now! Soooo good! Still trying to formulate my thoughts into a post or something. Mostly I think I totally agree with you. Bo-battins', indeed! That was piss-Sandra-off-a-licious, but apart from that... :) I was enthralled. Off to post!
